This heartwarming work of Korean folk art, is a pair of painted wood-carved people (called mokin, or kkokdu) that adorned a funeral sedan and brought comfort to the mourners. This pair of female attendants were a symbol of caregiving, blessing and protection. They are normally removed from the funeral bier and set afire after the funeral, so they are rare. Fortunately, this beautiful pair was spared the funeral pyre, and was set aside as a lucky talisman. They will bring grace, beauty, and love to an appreciative home. 12.5 inches, 32 cm.

This spectacular and truly one-of-a kind telephone was not only crafted by what was Korea's premier lacquer and mother-of-pearl company in the mid 20th Century (Kimpo Chilgi Gongyaesa), this is the one-off deluxe telephone that they made for themselves to use in their own office, so they put everything into this phone, and there really is no other like it. The label, like the rest of the telephone , is in remarkable condition, so you can still read the company name and telephone number on the label. The phone actually works, and it spins on the stand like a lazy susan. This is a grand and beautiful piece of Korean history. 11.5w x 7.5h inches, 29w x 19 cm.

Rare Antique and Genuine Traditional Korean Shaman's Bells (Muryoeng) used in shaman rituals for Summoning Good Spirits and Repelling Bad Spirits. You often see these bells depicted in antique paintings of Korean shamans. These shaman's bells that we offer here are not to be confused with the modern reproductions that you see for sale on eBay. These are genuine shaman implements with old workmanship and a beautiful patina from many years of traditional use a very long time ago. They are rare because they are normally buried or destroyed when the shaman dies. For a similar example of antique Korean shaman's bells bells, please see page 223 of The Collection of the National Folk Museum of Korea, published in 2012. 8 inches, 20.25 cm.
