12th Century Octagonal Inlaid and Carved Celadon Bowl
12th Century Octagonal Celadon Bowl with white slip inlaid orchids on rocks and a carved floral scroll on the interior rim. The orchid was a favorite symbol of Korean scholars. It represents modesty and purity, and the rock represents eternity. So the combination of rock and orchid has the important meaning of eternal adherence to principle. 5w x 1.25h inches, 12.5w x 3h cm.
