Very Large and Rare Painted Buncheong Plate depicting Meditation by the Famous Korean Monk from Jeju Island, Ko Chang Nyul aka Jung Kwang Sunim aka the Mad Monk (1935-2002). It is a very large plate at 17 inches (43 cm) wide and 3 inches (7.5 cm) deep. Jung Kwang is one of Korea's most important artists. He is renowned for his Zen Buddhist paintings, so painted ceramics by this revered master are rare and treasured items. This is a great example of the expressive brushwork for which he is famous.
