Choi Young Rim (1916-1985) was permanently separated from his wife, mother, and three daughters in North Korea after the Korean War. This pain was manifested in an ouvre that mainly featured women. His robust, round-headed ladies with their deep eyes radiate from the canvas in a full spectrum of emotion. Choi's paintings have been featured in international art exhibitions and are in the collections of most major museums in Korea. One of his Woman paintings recently sold at auction for $80,284. 10.5 x 8.75 inches, 27 x 22 cm, acrylic on paper. Painted in 1972.
